Mrs. Cash was a hero in the fight against government UFO cover-ups and brought hope to other victims of UFO incidents. She was devoted to family and friends and never allowed her illness to prevent her from helping others to cope with the trauma of contact experiences. Her case has several points of similarity with the Area 51 workers compensation case represented by Jonathan Turley of the George Washington University Environmental Law Center and recently rejected on appeal by the U. S. Supreme Court.

Quoting Peter Gersten of CAUS, "In 1981 I represented three people in a lawsuit against the United States Government for injuries that resulted from their contact with an unusual aerial object. Betty Cash, Vicky Landrum and Colby Landrum are the only three people to ever sue our government for injuries from a UFO.

Betty Cash was a warrior and heroine. She fought the US government and, even in defeat, showed a spirit and tenacity that will now be her epitaph. CAUS and I pay tribute to a very brave lady...and a victim of this government's callousness to the rights of the individual."

Betty Cash died in Birmingham, Alabama.on the eighteenth anniversary of her fateful UFO encounter.

Col. Corso was a member of General MacArthur’s staff, a national security advisor to President Eisenhower and worked at the Foreign Technology Desk of the Army Research and Development. During his career he received 19 commendations. After retiring from military service he went on to advise Senators Thurmond and Eastland on matters of national security.

In The Day After Roswell, Col. Corso confirmed the extraterrestrial nature of the crashed craft at Roswell, NM in 1947, described seeing a dead extraterrestrial corpse and elaborated on his participation in the transference of extraterrestrial technology into the commercial sectors via American corporations.

On June 9, 1998, a few days after signing an affidavit reconfirming the principal revelations in his memoir (on behalf of CAUS), Col. Corso suffered a severe heart attack. While the initial prognosis was negative, there was encouraging progress according to a report in the June 16 CNI News. However, on July 16 Col. Corso suffered another heart attack and died in transit to the local hospital.

In spite of his long service to his country which included much testimony before Congress on a range of issues such as MIAs, neither the DOD nor Army responded to the allegations in his book. Also of note was this: though well known to the Washington Post, the paper did not print an obituary.

He will forever be connected with the process of disclosure over his efforts to obtain documents from the Air Force regarding the Roswell event of 1947. During this effort it was learned the phone message records for that period for the Roswell Army Air Base were destroyed without authorization. He enlisted the aid of the GAO and publicly complained when the response to his queries proved unsatisfactory.

Within months of going public with his dissatisfaction with the government response to his information requests regarding records pertaining to the 1947 Roswell event, Congressman Schiff was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the ear. This skin cancer proved to be particularly aggressive and resistive of treatment.

She was the principal aide for six years to Dr. Steven Greer who wrote in tribute, "Since 1991, when we first met at a lecture in Los Angeles, Shari has been a pillar of strength and support, an indefatigable colleague, a true friend, an intrepid fellow explorer, an irreplaceable confidant and a fearless lioness without whose dedication CSETI could not have realized its many historic achievements." She was involved in all aspects of CSETI’s efforts to press the government for a hearing of witness testimony.

She contracted breast cancer sometime in 1996.

During the 1980’s Omni Magazine contributed greatly to public awareness of UFO phenomena and the government’s posture toward same. During a period when media development of the attendant issues was modest, Omni, a crossover mainstream publication, continually drew attention to the phenomena and the government posture via its UFO updates and articles.

Ms. Keeton, who was extremely health conscious (she founded Longevity Magazine), was diagnosed with aggressive, stage IV breast cancer in May of 1995 only months after passing an extensive physical examination. She was given weeks to live. She battled the cancer successfully for two years with the aid of hydrazine sulfate and died after an operation only indirectly related to her battle with cancer.

His background is outlined in the Site Dedication section of the Paradigm Clock. No one was more quoted or respected on the subject of extraterrestrial intelligence. During his lifetime he was ambivalent on the subject, but his power was such that he could have marshaled an army of media on the UFO/ET connection with a single article in Parade Magazine. In his next to last book, The Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, which was written in 1995, he called for a reexamination of the Cydonia region of Mars. There were rumors in the extraterrestrial phenomena research field, not as yet substantiated, that he was wavering on the UFO/ET question.

He became ill in 1994 and in 1995 was diagnosed with myelodysplasia, a rare form of anemia also known as preleukemia syndrome. Sagan died of pneumonia at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, where he had had a life extending bone-marrow transplant in April 1995.

She was an academic with degrees from California State University, University of Nottingham in England and a Ph.D. in Old English Studies from the University of North Texas. Her personal experiencer history led her into the field in 1988 and she became a powerful spokesperson for experiencer/abductees. She also pressed the issue of government cover-up on the subject. She authored Into the Fringe: A True Story of Alien Abduction, Taken and Masquerade of Angles.

She was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer in 1995. It spread to her liver and treatment was not successful.

	George Filer is the MUFON Eastern Director, MUFON NJ State Director, publisher of Filer's Files, a retired Air Force pilot, and well respected commentator on every aspect of the field of ufology. His prolific output via Filer's Files, which he writes himself, coupled with his military background, makes him an astute observer of the government posture.
	3/13/00	Status: According to Dr. Bruce Cornet, George had to undergo emergency heart bypass surgery. He is expected to be in the hospital for 7 or 8 days.
	3/21/00	Status: George Filer himself has reported the by-pass surgery to be successful. It is no surprise he utilized his recovery time in the hospital to get out the latest Filer's Files, which if any thing, was larger than usual.

	Philip Mantle is a long time investigator, former Director of Investigations for BUFORA, the British UFO Research Association, and co-author of Without Consent: A Comprehensive Survey of Missing-Time and Abduction Phenomena in the UK. He has been a very public figure in Britain in the UFO/ET field. In recent months he has been involved in reestablishing a publication, Quest Magazine.
	9/9/99	Status: On August 21, 1999 he suffered a severe heart attack. Since then, he has been back at home, but recent setbacks have put him back in the hospital where he is to get additional scanning.

	Keith Rowland is the webmaster for a number of UFO/ET researcher/activist including Whitley Strieber (Communion), Linda Moulton Howe and Richard Hoagland (Enterprise Mission). He is also webmaster for the site supporting the Art Bell radio program which is a major conduit to the public for a wide range of information relating to the science and politics of the UFO/ET phenomena. In recent months Rowland has, along with Bell, come under a withering internet/media attack with allegations made against him similar to the ones which prompted a $60 million libel/slander lawsuit from Bell against his accusers.
	6/15/99	Status: After feeling discomfort for several days, he was admitted this evening to the hospital and found to have a heart arrhythmia. Little more is known at this time.

	Dr. Leir is a podiatrist who was introduced to the issue of abduction reports which involved implants by Derrel Sims. They co-founded Fund for Interactive Research and Space Technology in 1997. In 1998 he published Aliens and the Scalpel: Scientific Proof of Extraterrestrial Implants in Humans which addresses the surgical efforts to explore implants in alleged abductee/experiencers. He has headed surgical teams which have removed a number of suspected implants. His work was featured in the February 17, 1999 NBC special, Confirmation: Hard Evidence of Aliens Among Us. The investigation of implants, being a matter of physical evidence, has the potential to raise the UFO/ET phenomena debate to another level and draw mainstream science into the fray. Not surprisingly the airing of this issue on a major network elicited an intense, negative response from those who are offended that such matters are treated seriously.
	5/30/99	Status: Dr.Leir is a 14-year survivor of an earlier heart attack which required a multiple by-pass operation. Last week some clot activity brought on an infarction which was treated immediately at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, California. He has returned to his home as of today to begin recovery. In a brief interview he indicated that stress brought on by intense criticism and personal attacks since the February 17, 1999 NBC television special which featured his implant surgery may have contributed to this setback. He intends to continue his work as his health permits.

	Hoagland has been a consultant, researcher, activist and is the author of the Monuments of Mars: City on the Edge of Forever, the first major analysis of the Cydonia region of Mars which includes the "face." He has been an intense critic of NASA and its failure to consider Mars, moon and other anomalies seriously. Hoagland has also challenged the government regarding covert scientific programs. Most recently he was a major figure in preserving ancient ruins in Miami, Florida slated for development.
	4/10/99	Status: He suffered a severe heart attack on March 6, 1999 . He was treated at the intensive coronary care unit in the Miami area where angioplasty was performed. On March 10 a subsequent single bypass operation was successful. He was discharged from the hospital on March 16 and is recovering satisfactorily in the Miami area. In a radio interview after being discharged Hoagland indicated he had no prior problems, that ultrasound examination of his circulatory system showed it to be excellent, and that all major heart arteries were clear save one.
	6/6/99	Status: Richard Hoagland continues to recover from heart surgery and has made steady improvement. His attention is now turning to the financial impact of this health crisis. He did not have insurance coverage and medical costs are approaching $100,000. His condition prevents him from returning home, and he must handle business affairs in absentia. He is unable to fly to speaking engagements which might provide some income. (Author's Note: Hoagland's heart attack occurred while he was working day and night along with others to secure the preservation of an ancient ritual site, usually referred to as the " Miami Circle." The Florida legislature is currently considering funding to acquire this site for $8,000,000 to $16,000,000. Compared to such sums, $100,000 is modest, and without Hoagland it is likely the opportunity to preserve the site would not have developed. Perhaps a Florida based philanthropist, who appreciates this contribution to the State's heritage, will step forward and significantly defray Richard Hoagland's medical bills.)

	One of the best known and longest working researchers of the experiencer/abductee phenomenon. He is the author of numerous books including: Missing Time, Intruders and Witnessed.
	6/24/98	Status: He suffered a mild heart attack on March 1, 1998. He was treated at the intensive coronary care unit at St. Vincents Hospital in New York where an angioplasty was performed. His initial prognosis was good and he has recovered from the event.

	Dr. Greer is an emergency physician and former chairman of the department of emergency medicine at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in North Carolina. Dr. Greer, as director of CSETI, has led research teams throughout the world investigating the existence of ETI. He has met with and provided briefings for senior members of government, military and intelligence operations in the United States and around the world, including senior CIA officials, Joint Chiefs of Staff, White House staff, senior members of Congress and congressional committees, senior United Nations leadership and diplomats, senior military officials in the United Kingdom and Europe, and cabinet-level staff members of the Japanese government, among others. He has been a significant force in pressing for a Congressional hearing of government witness testimony.
	6/24/98	Status: Dr. Greer is a highly health conscious physician and studiously avoids environmental carcinogens. Nevertheless, he has had two metastatic malignant melanomas removed in the last two years, the last one on July 2, 1997. No primary cancer was found. He is currently in remission.
